Dear Grandsons!

Melvin, Michael, Mizael, Teriq, and Eric!

This is your grandmother, Farina Thompson!

I love you and miss you each and everyday. It’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about you boys.

It’s been 6 years and 3 months that our family has been interrupted by this tragedy.

I am heartbroken that we are not together. You boys are all in school, and growing up in  the foster care system in Oklahoma.

I am sorry that you grandchildren are having to deal with and experience this type of life. My grandsons! Grandma, wants you all home. I have not given up on you boys.I love you boys with all my heart! With every ounce of blood that’s flowing through my body and veins.

It’s a shame, For the system has failed you boys, The system is broken. You boys should of been home. Unfortunately, the folks in Authority that’s holding their positions have abused their privilege and has caused us more pain and suffering.

My precious and dear grandsons, I send my love, hugs and kisses. Trust me! You’re not forgotten! Not by a long-shot. You boys have family tha loves you and it’s important for you all to know that.

I have been writing to you all, for the longest. I am not sure if you boys are even getting your letters. So! I have decided to go to the Internet, to put it out there. I want all of you boys to know the truth, and not what those people of Oklahoma and within the DHS  and others may or may not be telling you boys.

I am your grandmother! That will never ever change! I pray for our family everyday. You children, have been through a lot during these last past 6 years and 3 months. I am with you all in heart and spirit. Grandma! loves you all a great deal.

It’s wrong for how the State of Oklahoma has treated you boys and our family in the case. The judge himself, has done this out of vengeance, toward me. Grandsons! I came prepared to getting you and your brothers out of the foster care system. Everything was, however denied by Judge. I want you children to know that.

You boys are from California, and not from Oklahoma.

Well Grandsons, I will always love you! You do have your grandmother. You all are not forgotten!

I pray that will be seeing each other soon in the future, That God will give us peace while we are enduring this awful life’s tragedy.

Foster care isn’t no place for children, who have family that’s want them. My grandsons! I am so sorry that you have had to go through this, the injustice by the Oklahoma Family Court and the Oklahoma DHS, they both have failed you and our family.

Melvin, Michael, Mizael, Teriq and Eric, you boys  have a strong grandmother, that will not let this be swept under the rug. It’s an Injustice how the Judge – Judge Kirby have let the DHS system do this! Not Only that! He too! have done his dirt as well. That’s the reason we haven’t seen each other.

We haven’t had a visit since in 2 years. Since February 16 2010.

My grandsons, you are my life, my family  and you are not forgotten.

Injustice In The System / Children Suffering

For the past 5 years and 8 and a half months, my grandsons have been locked away in the Oklahoma Foster care system. While they have been floating in the system. They have been alienated, isolated and without any visitation with their family.

Injustice in the system! Why does have to take so long to reunite children with their family? It is not right for all of this to be taking place! Children should be immediately returned back home to family and love-ones! Soon as possible.

What’s taken place with my grandsons is an act of vengeance towards me, the children’s maternal and biological grandmother. I am Farina Thompson, and my grandsons mean the world to me. I have made every effort and gave my  all to get my grandchildren home with me and out of the Oklahoma Foster Care System!

It’s not justice or professional at how the Oklahoma Foster Care System & Oklahoma Family Court System has treated me and my grandchildren. What they have done to our family isn’t logical or practical. Oklahoma Department of Human Services/Foster Care Division,  They really caused my grandsons emotional damage!  My grandsons have totally been affected by all of this. Since the day they were taken by the state on March 2 2006.

My grandchildren, their self-esteem! How they have been without any contact with their biological and maternal grandmother. No phone calls, where we can each others voice. The state has definitely done damaged to my grandbabies.

Children in foster care should be allowed to be in continuous contact with their family! But here in the State of Oklahoma, from what I’ve experienced! It’s not been that way for my  5 grandsons. Instead, my precious grandsons are without contact of their biological family. Alienated and isolated, no visitation. The last time that my grandchildren were able to see me in person was of last year nearly 2 years ago, on 2.16.2010.

Yes! Nearly 2 years ago on 2.16.2010.

That’s not good for my grandchildren! Or any children that’s in the foster care system, for as that goes. Children in the foster care system from the start are already frightened! Why keep them away from family! That’s cruel! At least! I think so! In my book.

People holding such positions in their employment status, seem to abuse their power in Authority. They go overboard with it. This is absolutely wrong! This is exactly what is going on here in the state of Oklahoma.

My grandsons should have been out of the system by now. This is ridiculous! Just Absurd! I have moved here from Reno Nevada. I came with guardianship. I am not a felon. I am a registered voter. I am an Army Veteran. I am financial established. I have everything that’s needed to provide for and take care of my grandsons. I have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage home. It’s over 2,000 square feet. I have more than enough room for my precious grandchildren.

Oklahoma have denied me, everything that was presented on my behalf to get my grandsons out of the system. The judge even has granted Oklahoma DHS their request to exclude me from further court proceedings. This took place on 2.8.2011.

Oklahoma DHS,  will not give me a HOMESTUDY of my Oklahoma residence! All I want is my grandsons home and out of the states custody.. This is an injustice! Not professional at all.

Children are suffering in foster care! My grandchildren are suffering, they continue to suffer. They are being shuffled and shafted around in the foster care system going from one placement to the other. It’s not right! Not in the least! Certainly, not in the best interest of the child or children! Nor is it healthy for the children!

Children deserve to be with family! Isn’t it the right place for the children? As long as there are placement for the children with the family. Some one who can take the time and be there for them, To nurture and give them love, provide that roof for them and give them that stable home environment. That’s all I want to do for my grandchildren! Yet! Oklahoma DHS aren’t giving me that chance to be there for my grandsons. They rather adopt them out instead and keep me out of my grandsons lives. That’s wrong and It’s an injustice! It is.

I won’t stop my quest for justice! What Oklahoma has done to me and my grandchildren, shouldn’t happen to anyone else. This needs to stop!

My grandsons are loved, wanted and missed. They are not forgotten! NO! they are not forgotten! It is a sad shame, at how we as Americans are suffering by the hands of our Great American Politicians. They are in office because we elect them and yet when we need their HELP! We don’t get it. Here in the state of Oklahoma! I have been to the State Capitol a many times, yet no one was willing to do an inquiry on my request in regards to my concerns. This is very wrong!

My 5 grandsons are in the system and nothing has been done to get to the bottom of this! As long as my grandsons are in the system and no one is taking a look at how come they are still in there and not home with me, their biological and maternal grandmother. I will continue to expose them to the media until there are changes. Oklahoma is wrong! That goes for the Judge, the ADA, the DHS case worker, everyone involved. Including the Director of DHS, his name is Howard Hendrick.

I continue to write letters to the Oklahoma DHS Officials at their main office. I am not happy how this state has held on to my grandsons and kept them away from me. We are family!

In closing I will ask all of you to please pray for me and my precious grandsons. I love them and miss them so very much. Please pray for us that we will be a family soon. That this will be over so that we can move on with our lives and rebuild.
